simplicismus bbedit literature 2002-2003 in the form of genetic, binary
and math codes, an easy-brain-machine-creation, snipplets of work,

Tool is the Message. Artistic Interfaces 

Unlike traditional artistic tools such as a paintbrush or a violin that
had been developing through centures by generations of anonymous
craftsmen, the new, software ones always have their authors named -
individual or corporate. Such situation drastically changes the meaning
of a tool: instead of being part of a tradition, it starts carrying out
some new functions: making profit in case of proprietary commercial
software or becoming an ultimate objective, an art piece in itself if
developed by artists. Can software-produced sounds and images exist in a
'pure' form, without reference to the tools they were made with? To
which extend software tool developers delegate their creativity to their
products? Why many artists choose to develop software tools these days
instead of just 'making music' or 'creating images'?

hier moechte ich von dem riesen-projekt etxtreme.ru den spannungsbogen
runterbrechen auf die mini texte und klein experiemente im aestehtischen
und pseudotheoretischen bereich der binary, genetics, math formulas,
gamma-ray sequences, etc..

irgendwie muss ich einen weg finden, meine "kunst" des einfach tuns,
unstrukturierten tuns, meines zufallsnehmens und verarbeitens, meines
diletanttimsus, meiner naivitaet und neugierde, meiner unglaublichen
faulheit gekoppelt mit meinem ungezaehmten ehrgeiz, meiner aesthetischen
experimentierfreudigkeit zu kommunizieren.. zu zeigen wie diese art des
angehens in groesseren projekten wie etoy, ubermorgen, voteauction,
etxtreme.ru, ipnic aufgehen kann.

genetics / binary

conceptual framework for manual or script/software manipulation of
genetic or digital code. test runs visible on runme.org and on
hansbernhard.com.

you can do analyses of special sequences, i.e. for a special protein you
wanna find out if it is in order or not, and you know exactly where to
find it, i.e. between a region ranging from markers D19S879 to D19S866
(excluded) from the  19q13.3 fragment of chromosome 19. this would be to
analyse if you are defunct with cardiac conduction disease. that is the
one thing you can do, interesting and i work on stuff like that, cause
these sequences stay the same [should be the same] in almost every human
/ homo and are therefore very good text-material to be manipulated and
then injected back into humans for testing wheter my genetic "poem" or
"interpretation" works or not. but this testing will take years and 
years, because you need access to human embryos or even base-cells and
test-facilities to do it. and it is not my primary intention to realize
it, my  intention is to manipulate and resequence experimentally.

the other thing i did with my family is much more real and contemporary
in terms of useability. i collected sample dna of all my family members
and close friends of the family [without them knowing it! - my dad and
my mum used to be genetic researchers in the 70s and 80s!! hehehe]. now
i sent these samples to a  lab to do fathership tests, and look at the
fuck, it turned out that some of the kids of my parents [me and my 2
sisters] are not actually by my father but by 2 other fathers, which are
close friends of the family.

now i publish this on http://www.bernhards.net step- by-step, each time
for x-mas as a family-present. problem  is, for non-specialists, it is
very hard to read who is related to whom, also because i do not disclose
the names / identites of the friends of the family for  privacy reasons.
so, its like fucking easter eggs  searching.. but a specialist can
easily deduct, but there i built in another security level, because i
have not identified properly which fingerprint belongs to whom, its non
of anybodys but my families business. so, yes, its real data and i am
really fucking around with my relatives, you know the term cockoo, the
bird that lays eggs into other birds nests.. there we go!

READ_ME 2.3  is a festival of software art that explores the territory
between art and software culture. Read_me 2.3 draws connections between
histories and practices in both software culture and art, and aims at
creating an extended context, against which software art may be mapped.

 READ_ME 2.3  is the second edition of Read_Me, the first festival
dedicated entirely to the phenomena of software art. It will take place
on May 30-31, 2003 in Helsinki. Read_me 1.2 was held in Moscow in May
2002.

 READ_ME 2.3  continues with the open structure of Read_me: all projects
are submitted on-line to a publicly accessible database. However, the
second Read_me edition has logically developed this idea further: the
simple database has turned into the software art repository Runme.org.

All projects, submitted to Runme.org up to the  READ_ME 2.3  deadline
(1st of March) will be reviewed by a collective of "experts" and the
best ones will be presented on the  READ_ME 2.3  event. However,
Runme.org will continue accepting projects on an ongoing basis. Projects
entered after the deadline will be considered as entries to the future
Read_me festivals.

 READ_ME 2.3  is not a competition in the traditional sense, and it will
not have monetary prizes. The festival event on May 30-31 will present,
discuss, and celebrate a selection of works singled out and featured
without ranking by the Read_me experts collective.  READ_ME 2.3  will
focus on the variety of discrete contexts and will aim at building
bridges between them.
